Overview
Tolterodine is a competitive muscarinic receptor antagonist used to treat overactive bladder with symptoms of urinary frequency, urgency, or urge incontinence.

Mechanism of Action
It exhibits a high selectivity for the urinary bladder over salivary glands, blocking muscarinic receptors to decrease bladder contractions.

Dosage and Administration
The standard dose is 2 mg twice daily for immediate-release, or 4 mg once daily for extended-release capsules.

Side Effects
Common side effects include dry mouth, headache, constipation, and abdominal pain.

Contraindications
Contraindicated in patients with urinary retention, gastric retention, or uncontrolled narrow-angle glaucoma.
