The Committee recommended that for administrative convenience and to increase vaccination rates, with informed consent, flexible arrangements could be made to administer both the COVID-19 vaccine and the seasonal influenza vaccine during the same visit. The same principle also applies to residential care homes and similar establishments.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Scientific Committee stated that local seasonal influenza activity has been at a low level since mid-February 2020, and influenza transmission may have been altered by a range of non-pharmaceutical public health interventions implemented in response to COVID-19, as well as travel and immigration restrictions. However, it is anticipated that influenza transmission may increase with the relaxation of these control measures, which could further lead to the co-circulation of influenza and the novel coronavirus, posing an additional burden on vulnerable populations and the healthcare system.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Healthcare workers, the elderly, children, and pregnant women are prioritized for flu vaccinations<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The committee will recommend the same priority groups for seasonal flu vaccination as the previous season, believing that the high-risk groups for COVID-19 and flu are similar. Therefore, it is important to ensure that frontline healthcare workers, the elderly, children, and pregnant women, who are at higher risk of contracting flu, are prioritised for the flu vaccine.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The committee believes that, with informed consent, flexible arrangements can be made for administrative convenience and to increase vaccination rates, allowing citizens to receive both the COVID-19 vaccine and the seasonal flu vaccine during the same visit.
